Yiannis, the Founder and President of Souvlaki Express was born in Doriza, Greece. He grew up watching his mother Katerina prepare their meals with secrets and techniques that had been passed down from generation to generation.
In 1980, he was first to introduce the now famous flambeed cheese, “Saganaki” which remains a signature dish throughout Toronto’s Greek dining rooms. He was also the first to add patio dining on the Danforth.
Then, in 1988, Yiannis had an idea… “Why can’t we deliver Greek food?” He responds with the opening of “Souvlaki Express” which becomes the first restaurant in Toronto to deliver Greek cuisine.
Yiannis, a man of many firsts, successfully introduced greek food delivery and continues to bring Torontonians a taste of Greece.
